The Plan has a Shape

I had the day off of work today, so I took some time to create a drawing of my lot at 1/8″=1′ scale. Now it’s nice and big and easy to move stuff around on. I made some crude cutouts to represent the garden boxes, trees and flower beds for the mockup. I have to get some other color of paper to cutout the compost bins, various architecture features, patio stones and interlock bricks. This is just like being back in grade school doing cutout art ![]()

The Plan

I picked up some bristolboard to create a mock up of the new landscape. Being who I am, I’m not satisfied with just using a mental image or drawing a picture. No, I have to create a large scale plan and cutout colored bits to represent trees and bushes and the raised beds. I’ll post a picture of it when I have it completed, probably in the next week. Beginnings

My wife & I spent a few hours looking for seed starter materials yesterday. This time of year is not conducive to massive gardening displays so our selection was quite limited. We found vermiculite at Walmart, compost at Home Depot, but couldn’t find small bales of peat moss anywhere. Not to be swayed from our path, we went into the local Home Hardware store.
